The national capital Delhi and its surrounding NCR regions are expected to witness heavy showers in the coming days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall across multiple parts of Delhi-NCR this week. With these conditions, there are limited chances of temperature rising significantly in the region.

IMD Forecast for Delhi and NCR

According to the weather department, Delhi and several NCR areas will continue to experience light showers and cloudy weather conditions till September 2. Dense clouds are expected to appear periodically, bringing bouts of rain that will keep the maximum temperature under control.

The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for Delhi and adjoining regions over the next 24 hours, warning of heavy rainfall at isolated locations. Thunderstorms and lightning, along with moderate showers, may occur in several areas by evening.

Rain Showers Likely Till September 2

The forecast suggests that between August 28 and September 2, the national capital and its neighboring areas will witness spells of light rain or drizzle. During this period, there will also be occasional bursts of heavy showers accompanied by dense cloud cover.

While these weather conditions will help keep the maximum temperature under check, residents are likely to face episodes of humidity in between, adding to the discomfort.

Expected Temperature in Coming Days

The IMD has projected that the maximum temperature in Delhi will remain moderate through this week. On August 28 and 31, temperatures are expected to hover between 31°C and 33°C. On August 29, 30, September 1 and 2, the maximum temperature is likely to settle between 30°C and 32°C.

With frequent drizzles and cloud presence, the capital is not expected to witness significant temperature hikes.

Air Quality Remains Satisfactory

The rainfall and favorable wind conditions have helped improve Delhi’s air quality. On Tuesday, Delhi recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 55, which falls in the “satisfactory” category. Weather experts believe that the clean air trend will continue for the next two days due to regular spells of rain and a controlled temperature environment.

This offers much-needed relief to residents, who often battle severe air pollution levels during other parts of the year.

NCR Weather Conditions

Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad are also expected to follow a similar weather pattern as Delhi. Light rain showers, thunder, and occasional heavy rainfall are likely to impact the entire NCR belt till September 2. Residents in these areas are advised to remain prepared for waterlogging and traffic disruptions, especially during peak hours.

Yellow Alert and Public Advisory

The yellow alert issued by the IMD serves as a cautionary note for residents and local authorities. Moderate to heavy showers may disrupt daily life in parts of the capital and NCR. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and avoid waterlogged routes.

At the same time, the rain will help in cooling down the city after weeks of humid conditions, offering temporary relief.

Delhi and NCR are set to witness a rainy spell through this week, with IMD issuing a yellow alert for heavy showers. While the rain will keep maximum temperatures under control, humidity may continue to cause discomfort. Improved air quality, however, remains a major positive outcome of the current weather pattern.

The next few days are expected to bring a mix of relief and challenges for residents, with pleasant weather conditions tempered by the possibility of traffic snarls and waterlogging.
