PM Modi Lays Foundation of ₹6,300 Crore Projects in Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Assam on Sunday and addressed a massive public gathering in Darrang. During his speech, he called himself a devotee of Lord Shiva. He declared that, like Shiva, he swallows all poison, no matter how much abuse is hurled at him.

He also targeted the Congress party, saying his only remote control is the people of India. According to PM Modi, 140 crore citizens are his masters and guiding force.

He accused Congress of disrespecting legendary Assamese cultural icon Bhupen Hazarika. Modi assured that the BJP’s double-engine government is committed to fulfilling the dreams of Bhupen Hazarika and the aspirations of the people of Assam.

“People Are My Remote Control”

PM Modi emphasized that for him, the people are his God. He said that when he seeks blessings, his inner voice reaches the citizens of India before anyone else.

He added, “The people of India are my masters. They are my divine force, my worship, and my remote control. No one else controls me. 140 crore Indians are my only remote control.”

This statement was a direct response to opposition accusations that the Prime Minister is controlled by external forces.

Foundation of ₹6,300 Crore Projects

During his Assam visit, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of projects worth ₹6,300 crore. These include healthcare projects and vital infrastructure works.

He also inaugurated the Guwahati Ring Road project, a crucial step to strengthen connectivity in the state.

PM Modi reminded the people that this was his first visit to Assam after Operation Sindoor, connecting security achievements with development initiatives.

Abuse Controversy in Bihar

The Prime Minister also referred indirectly to the recent controversy in Bihar. During the INDIA alliance’s Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga, some opposition workers allegedly hurled abuses at PM Modi and his mother.

A video of the incident went viral, sparking nationwide outrage. The Bihar BJP filed an FIR, and police later arrested Mohammad Rizvi alias Raja, son of Anish Qureshi, from Bhapura village in Darbhanga.

Reacting to this incident, PM Modi said he treats such abuses as poison but swallows them silently to continue serving the nation.

Assam’s Rapid Development

PM Modi highlighted that India is the fastest-growing major economy in the world. Within the country, Assam has become one of the fastest-growing states.

He said Assam, once struggling to keep pace with development, has now achieved a growth rate of 13 percent.

This achievement, according to him, is a result of the determination of the people of Assam, combined with the efforts of the double-engine government led by the BJP.

He praised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his team, saying their hard work has earned overwhelming support from the people of Assam.

Guwahati Ring Road Project

The Guwahati Ring Road is expected to transform connectivity in Assam. It will reduce traffic congestion, improve logistics, and boost trade and mobility.

By laying the foundation stone of this project, PM Modi signaled his government’s commitment to long-term infrastructure growth in the northeast.

Strengthening Healthcare Facilities

The health projects worth thousands of crores will create new hospitals, expand medical infrastructure, and provide better facilities for Assam.

PM Modi said these projects will directly improve the lives of ordinary people. Better healthcare and stronger infrastructure will empower Assam’s growth story.

Bhupen Hazarika and Cultural Pride

In his speech, PM Modi mentioned Bhupen Hazarika, one of Assam’s greatest cultural icons. He accused Congress of disrespecting Hazarika’s legacy.

He said BJP’s double-engine government is committed to honoring Assamese pride and fulfilling the dreams of cultural heroes.

This focus on cultural respect, alongside development, was aimed at connecting emotionally with the people of Assam.

Symbolism of Lord Shiva Reference

By comparing himself to Lord Shiva, PM Modi sought to present himself as patient and resilient.

He said that just as Lord Shiva consumed poison for the welfare of the universe, he too accepts all abuses but continues working for the people of India.

This spiritual reference resonated deeply with supporters, portraying him as a leader focused on duty rather than personal grievances.

Double-Engine Government and Assam’s Growth

PM Modi highlighted the benefits of a double-engine government. He explained that when both the state and central governments are led by BJP, development accelerates.

He credited this model for Assam’s recent progress, from infrastructure projects to social welfare schemes.

The Prime Minister claimed that the double-engine government has restored hope and trust in governance across the region.

Opposition vs Government Narrative

PM Modi’s speech combined development promises with strong attacks on the Congress-led opposition. He accused them of neglecting Assam and ignoring its cultural icons.

He contrasted that with BJP’s approach of combining infrastructure with cultural pride. This narrative underlined the party’s political strategy in Assam.

Assam as Gateway to Northeast

PM Modi emphasized Assam’s importance as the gateway to the northeast. Development in Assam directly impacts growth in neighboring states.

With better healthcare, roads, and connectivity, Assam can emerge as a hub for trade and cultural exchange in the region.

The Guwahati Ring Road and healthcare projects are expected to boost this role further.

India’s Global Growth Story

PM Modi linked Assam’s growth to India’s global rise. He said India’s rapid progress is recognized worldwide, and Assam’s transformation reflects this broader success.

He stressed that the northeastern states, once considered distant from mainstream development, are now central to India’s growth narrative.

PM Modi’s Connection With People

Throughout his speech, PM Modi emphasized his bond with ordinary citizens. He repeated that he works only for the people, rejecting any notion of external control.

By placing 140 crore Indians as his “remote control,” he projected an image of accountability and service.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Assam visit was marked by the launch of ₹6,300 crore worth of health and infrastructure projects. By laying the foundation stone of the Guwahati Ring Road and announcing new healthcare facilities, he strengthened his government’s development narrative.

At the same time, his speech carried political and spiritual undertones. By calling himself a devotee of Lord Shiva, he projected patience and resilience. His statement that the people of India are his only remote control countered opposition allegations and emphasized his people-first approach.

He praised Assam’s 13 percent growth rate as a result of the double-engine government and the determination of its people. He promised to continue respecting cultural icons like Bhupen Hazarika while delivering modern infrastructure.

The visit was not just about projects but also about political messaging, cultural pride, and spiritual symbolism. It presented PM Modi as a leader combining development with devotion, and politics with progress.
