For the First Time, PM Modi’s Posters Appear at JDU Office Alongside Nitish Kumar

In a major visual shift that may mark a turning point in Bihar’s political narrative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image has been displayed for the first time at the Janata Dal (United) [JDU] party office, side by side with that of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The development is being seen as a strong signal of the renewed NDA alliance strategy ahead of the upcoming state elections.

The posters were unveiled at the JDU headquarters in Patna, and they prominently feature the images of both PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar, accompanied by slogans highlighting development, employment, and women’s empowerment under the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government.

Visual Change Signals Political Realignment

This marks the first time in over two decades that the JDU has displayed a poster with both leaders together at its party headquarters. Although the JDU and BJP have been political allies for nearly 25 years, the party has traditionally maintained visual and symbolic autonomy at its party offices and events.

This move, therefore, is more than mere optics — it sends a clear political message about the unified face of the NDA in Bihar, especially as the state gears up for its next assembly elections.

Poster Slogans:

The posters carry bold election slogans such as:

  • “Mahilāon ki Jaykār, Phir Se NDA Sarkār” (Victory for Women, NDA Government Again)

  • “Naukri, Rozgār, Khushhāl Bihār – Phir Se NDA Sarkār” (Jobs, Employment, Prosperous Bihar – NDA Government Again)

  • “Lag Rahe Udyog, Mil Raha Rozgār – Phir Se NDA Sarkār” (Industries Are Rising, Jobs Are Coming – NDA Government Again)

The slogans reflect a push toward economic development, women-centric policies, and employment generation – themes that will likely dominate NDA’s 2025 campaign narrative in Bihar.

JDU and BJP: A Complex But Resilient Alliance

The alliance between JDU and BJP has had its ups and downs over the years. Although Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi are both strong political figures, their relationship has not always been seamless.

A Brief Timeline:

  • 2000–2013: JDU and BJP ruled together in Bihar under a stable alliance.

  • 2013: Nitish Kumar broke ties with the BJP after the announcement of Narendra Modi as the NDA’s PM face.

  • 2015: JDU allied with RJD and Congress, forming the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance).

  • 2017: Nitish Kumar returned to the BJP-led NDA fold, citing governance issues with the RJD.

  • 2022: JDU again exited the NDA briefly, but in early 2024, it rejoined the alliance amid national political realignments.

Despite this on-again, off-again relationship, the BJP-JDU combine remains a dominant political force in Bihar, especially when contesting elections together.

What This Symbolic Move Means for 2025 Bihar Elections

The timing of this poster display is strategic. With the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for late 2025, this show of unity is expected to solidify voter perception of a strong and stable NDA leadership.

Key Implications:

  1. Unified Campaigning: BJP and JDU may now launch joint campaigns, featuring both Modi and Nitish prominently.

  2. Strategic Messaging: The shared focus on jobs, industrialization, and women’s welfare indicates the key talking points of the NDA campaign.

  3. Counter to Opposition: The visuals aim to counter the RJD-Congress alliance, which has often projected NDA as divided and inconsistent.

Political analysts suggest that this move could influence urban and semi-urban voters, who respond well to visual messaging and leadership imagery.

What Party Leaders Are Saying

While no official statement was issued by CM Nitish Kumar, senior JDU leaders hailed the posters as “a reflection of NDA’s unified vision for Bihar.”

A JDU spokesperson said:

“The posters simply reflect the reality – that we are partners in progress. PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar are both committed to taking Bihar to new heights. The people of Bihar need to see that we are united in this goal.”

Meanwhile, BJP leaders in the state welcomed the move, stating that this would help eliminate any confusion about the alliance and energize the cadre base.

Office Makeover in Patna: A Preview of the Campaign Ahead

The newly refurbished JDU office in Patna was abuzz with activity as the PM Modi-Nitish posters were installed. Party workers, leaders, and local media gathered to witness what many described as “an unprecedented visual alignment” between two powerful leaders.

The posters are expected to be replicated in other district-level JDU offices across Bihar in the coming weeks, as the alliance intensifies its grassroots reach.

Public Sentiment and Opposition Reaction

The development has already stirred reactions on social media, with supporters calling it a “masterstroke” and critics labeling it a “forced compromise”.

The RJD and Congress – key opposition players in Bihar – have mocked the move as “symbolic politics.” RJD leaders questioned why such posters were never seen in the past despite years of alliance.

Opposition Comment:

“It’s desperation ahead of elections. If they are so united, why didn’t JDU ever acknowledge Modi publicly before?” — RJD MLA

Nonetheless, the visual show of alliance might still influence undecided voters, especially in swing districts.

With PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar sharing poster space for the first time at the JDU headquarters, Bihar politics may be entering a new era of visual and political unity under the NDA banner. As both parties gear up for the crucial 2025 state assembly elections, these images will likely become powerful tools of persuasion — conveying stability, strength, and shared leadership.
