Chhattisgarh Fire Department Launches Major Recruitment Drive

KKN Gurugram Desk | The Chhattisgarh Fire Department has officially unveiled a large-scale recruitment drive to fill 295 vacancies, offering careers as Station Officer (Sub-Inspector), Driver, Operator, Fireman, and several specialized positions. Eligible candidates can begin applying online from July 1 to July 31 via the official portal Cghgcd.gov.in. This massive recruitment aims to strengthen the state’s emergency response capabilities and fire safety infrastructure.

Vacancy Details: Targeted Firefighter Jobs

The recruitment notification outlines a wide range of positions:

  • Station Officer (Sub-Inspector) – 21 posts

  • Vehicle Driver – 14 posts

  • Driver-cum-Operator – 86 posts

  • Fireman – 117 posts

  • Store Keeper – 32 posts

  • Mechanic – 2 posts

  • Watchroom Operator – 19 posts

  • Wireless Operator (Contractual) – 4 posts

This diverse pool of roles reflects the department’s strategic plan to reinforce its workforce across urban and rural deployment zones.

 Eligibility Criteria: Education & Age Requirements

Station Officer (Sub-Inspector):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science (B.Sc.) or Engineering (BE/B.Tech)

  • Role: Leading fire teams, managing operations, and handling equipment

Vehicle Driver / Driver-cum-Operator:

  • Education: High school completion (12th pass)

  • Requirement: Valid driving license (commercial)

  • Role: Operating firefighting vehicles and supporting operational teams

Fireman:

  • Education: 12th pass

  • Role: Frontline firefighting, rescue operations, and emergency response

Store Keeper:

  • Education: 12th pass

  • Role: Inventory management and supply coordination

Mechanic:

  • Education: 12th pass + ITI diploma in Diesel Mechanic trade

  • Role: Equipment maintenance and vehicle repair

Watchroom Operator:

  • Education: 12th pass + trained Municipal Guard

  • Role: Night-time operations, call handling, and on-ground coordination

Wireless Operator (Contractual):

  • Education: 12th pass + trained in wireless communications + Municipal Guard

  • Role: Managing radio communications and emergency dispatch

Age Limit:

  • Applicants must be between 18–28 years

  • Relaxation: Up to 5 years for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC)

 Application process: National & Local Candidates Can Apply Starting 1 July

The online application window opens 1 July and continues until 31 July 2025. To apply, candidates must:

  1. Visit the official portal: Cghgcd.gov.in

  2. Register with basic personal details

  3. Upload scanned copies of educational certificates, license, photo, and signature

  4. Pay the prescribed application fee

  5. Submit before the deadline and save the confirmation receipt

Late applications and walk-in submissions will not be entertained. Aspirants should follow the departmental guidelines closely and keep track of future updates.

 Physical Test & Selection Process

All candidates are required to undergo a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) to assess fitness levels:

Estimated Physical Standards:

  • Fireman & Driver roles: 1600-meter run in 6 minutes, 10 pull-ups, long jump of 10 feet

  • Station Officer & Operator roles: 2400-meter run in 12 minutes, bar hang, obstacle navigation

  • Mechanic & Store Keeper: Moderate physical tasks to handle equipment and stores

Successful PET and PST performances will qualify applicants for the written examination, which includes sections on general knowledge, reasoning, mathematics, and domain-specific subjects. Candidates must score above the cut-off marks (category wise), and eligible candidates will be shortlisted for the final merit list based on combined PET, written exam, and document verification.
