The Bihar Public Service Commission will conduct the BPSC 71st Prelims Exam 2025 on 13 September. The examination will be held in a single shift from 12 noon to 2 pm. The Commission has instructed candidates to reach the exam center well in advance. Arriving early will help candidates avoid any difficulties on the exam day.
Entry at the exam centers will begin at 9:30 am. However, no entry will be allowed after 11 am. The Commission has made it clear that late arrivals will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Large Scale of Examination and Vacancies
This year, the BPSC will fill 1298 vacancies through the 71st Combined Competitive Examination. Among these positions, 100 are for Senior Deputy Collectors, 14 for DSP, 79 for FAO, and 502 for Block Cooperative Officers.
Around 4,70,528 candidates are expected to appear in this exam. The large scale of participation has made the Commission adopt strict rules and transparent procedures to ensure fairness.
Strict Gate Closing Rule
The Commission has placed strong emphasis on gate closing rules this year. The exam begins at 12 noon, but the gates will close at 11 am sharp.
The examination controller explained that in past years, some candidates tried to enter at 11:02 am. This year, no such requests will be entertained. Once the gate is closed, no candidate will be allowed inside.
The Commission has advised candidates to plan their travel in advance. Traffic issues or delays cannot be accepted as excuses.
Required Documents for Exam Day
The BPSC has made it mandatory for candidates to carry two copies of the Admit Card. One copy must be signed inside the exam hall and submitted to the invigilator.
Along with this, the valid Photo ID mentioned in the Admit Card must also be carried. It could be an Aadhaar card, PAN card, or a driving license.
Candidates must also ensure that their roll number and barcode printed on the Admit Card are clear and legible.
Items Banned Inside the Examination Hall
The Commission has issued strict instructions regarding banned items. No electronic devices are allowed inside the exam hall. This includes mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi gadgets, pagers, smartwatches, and electronic pens.
Even common items like markers, white fluid, blades, and erasers are not permitted. If any candidate is found with such items, it will be treated as misconduct. Strict action will be taken immediately.
Negative Marking in the Prelims
The BPSC 71st Prelims Exam will have a system of Negative Marking. For every wrong answer, one-third of the allotted marks will be deducted.
If a candidate uses white fluid, markers, or erasers to change an answer, it will be treated as multiple answers. Such responses will be considered incorrect and negative marking will apply. Candidates are advised to answer carefully and avoid excessive guesswork.
Objection Filing Process After Exam
Candidates who find irregularities in the exam paper or process can raise objections. Such complaints must be submitted within 48 hours of the exam.
The candidate must also upload an affidavit while filing the objection. The Commission has assured that such complaints will be reviewed within 72 hours. This step has been taken to maintain transparency and fairness in the evaluation process.
Instructions for Candidates with Unclear Photos or Signatures
Some candidates uploaded unclear photographs or signatures during the application process. Such candidates will need to follow special instructions on exam day.
They must fill a declaration form available on the Commission’s official website. The form should have a colored photograph attested by a gazetted officer. Candidates must also sign the form in both Hindi and English.
In addition, two passport-size colored photographs must be carried. One photograph must be pasted on the Admit Card, while the other must be submitted to the exam supervisor. A valid identity card such as Aadhaar, PAN, or driving license must also be shown for verification.
Only after this process will the candidate be allowed to appear in the exam.
Misconduct and Disqualification Rules
The Commission has taken a strict stance against malpractice. Any candidate found carrying banned electronic items or attempting unfair means will face strong action.
Such candidates will be disqualified not only from this exam but also from future exams. A ban of five years will be imposed on those caught in misconduct.
Spreading rumors or misinformation about the examination will result in a three-year ban. Action will be taken under the Bihar Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
Rules After the Examination Ends
Candidates will not be allowed to leave the exam hall or premises immediately after the exam ends. They will only be permitted to leave once instructions are given by the invigilators.
This rule ensures discipline and prevents disruption at the exam centers. Candidates must follow the directions of supervisors carefully during and after the test.
Exam Pattern of BPSC 71st Prelims
The 71st Prelims will consist of only one paper. The subject is General Studies, and the paper carries 150 marks.
The questions will be objective in nature. Candidates who qualify in the Prelims will then appear in the Mains Examination. After clearing the Mains, they will face an Interview.
The final selection will be based on performance in all three stages of the process.
Importance of Discipline and Preparation
The Commission has repeatedly advised candidates to take the guidelines seriously. With lakhs of candidates appearing for limited vacancies, even small mistakes can cost them their attempt.
Reaching the center on time, carrying all required documents, and avoiding banned items are essential. Candidates must also attempt the paper with caution, keeping negative marking in mind.
The BPSC 71st Prelims Exam 2025 is a golden opportunity for lakhs of aspirants in Bihar. Nearly five lakh candidates will compete for 1298 posts in the state administrative system.
This examination is not only a test of knowledge but also a test of discipline. Candidates must follow the rules strictly and prepare strategically. The Prelims is only the first stage of the process. Success here will open the path to the Mains and the Interview.
Those who combine preparation with discipline will stand the best chance of achieving success. The exam is expected to be competitive, but fairness and transparency will be maintained through the Commission’s strict rules.
