KKN Gurugram Desk | Reliance Jio has officially launched India’s first indigenous Smart TV operating system – JioTele OS. This next-generation platform aims to revolutionize digital entertainment by offering AI-powered recommendations, seamless app integration, and support for both global and regional content.

JioTele OS will be available on smart TVs from February 21, 2025, and will debut with brands like Thomson, Kodak, BPL, and JVC. More brands are expected to join in 2025, expanding choices for Indian consumers.

With approximately 35 million connected TV households in India, Jio is targeting the growing demand for smart, customizable, and content-rich TV experiences.

JioTele OS: Features and Benefits

1️⃣ AI-Powered Recommendations

  • Personalized content suggestions based on user preferences.
  • Integration of regional and global streaming platforms.

2️⃣ Seamless Integration with Leading Apps

  • Support for popular OTT apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, JioCinema, and YouTube.
  • Smooth and fast navigation for an enhanced user experience.

3️⃣ Regular Updates and Enhanced Security

  • Frequent software updates to keep the system optimized.
  • Built-in security features for a safe and secure browsing experience.

4️⃣ Affordable & Premium Viewing Experience

  • Optimized for affordability, ensuring budget-friendly Smart TVs.
  • High-quality visuals with support for Ultra HD and HDR content.

JioTele OS vs. Competitors

JioTele OS will compete with:

  • Google’s Android TV
  • LG’s WebOS
  • Samsung’s Tizen OS

Unlike existing platforms, JioTele OS will focus on deeper content integrationlocalized recommendations, and a premium experience at lower prices.

Market Impact and Growth Expectations

According to Counterpoint Research:

  • India’s smart TV market is currently at 13.4 million units, generating $6 billion in revenue.
  • The growth is shifting towards premium large-screen TVs.
  • Recent custom duty reductions on open-cell panels will lower production costs, potentially reducing smart TV prices by 5-10%.
  • This move is expected to increase Smart TV demand by 10-12% in 2025.

Jio’s entry into the smart TV OS segment will accelerate innovation, drive competition, and bring more affordable yet premium TV experiences for Indian consumers.

JioTele OS marks a major shift in India’s Smart TV ecosystem, offering an affordable yet feature-rich alternative to existing platforms like Android TV and WebOS.

By focusing on regional content, AI-powered recommendations, and seamless app integration, Jio is set to transform home entertainment in India.

With the official rollout beginning on February 21, 2025, Indian consumers can expect a smarter, faster, and more connected TV experience at competitive prices.
