The IMD has predicted that rain showers with thunder may occur at various places. Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram, along with the capital city, have been experiencing intermittent showers that have helped reduce heat stress and improve the overall air quality.
Rainfall Predictions Until September 3
The IMD has forecast rainfall in Delhi-NCR until September 3. According to its updates, light to moderate rainfall will continue almost daily, accompanied by occasional thunder. This extended rainy spell is likely to maintain a cooler climate and control humidity levels, offering respite to residents from the typical late-summer discomfort.
Weather Outlook for the Coming Days
On August 28, Delhi-NCR is expected to witness light to moderate rainfall. Maximum temperatures will likely remain between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will hover around 25 degrees Celsius.
On August 29, cloudy skies are expected throughout the day. Light to moderate showers with thunder are likely in different parts of Delhi and neighboring cities. The maximum temperature is predicted to be between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius, with the minimum ranging from 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.
The forecast for August 30 indicates a mostly cloudy sky, with light showers expected. The maximum temperature will likely remain stable, while the minimum temperature could drop by one degree, ranging between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius.
On August 31, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in some areas of Delhi-NCR. This could bring the maximum temperature down to between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius. However, the minimum temperature is expected to remain unchanged until September 2.
The IMD also predicts cloudy skies on September 1, with scattered rainfall in some places and heavy showers in others. The maximum temperature is expected to drop further, staying between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius.
On September 2, residents can expect light to moderate showers with thunder. Both maximum and minimum temperatures are predicted to remain steady without major fluctuations.
Air Quality Status in Delhi
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) at 109 on Thursday morning at 9 AM. This level falls under the ‘moderate’ category. AQI between 0 and 50 is classified as ‘good,’ 51 to 100 as ‘satisfactory,’ 101 to 200 as ‘moderate,’ 201 to 300 as ‘poor,’ 301 to 400 as ‘very poor,’ and 401 to 500 as ‘severe.’
The recent spells of rain have contributed to the improvement in air quality, washing down dust particles and pollutants. However, officials caution that localized pollution sources and changes in wind patterns could still impact AQI readings over the coming days.
Weather Impact on Daily Life
The consistent rainfall has eased heat stress for residents across Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram. Morning and evening walks have become more comfortable, and traffic congestion due to rain has been manageable so far. Farmers in nearby regions are also benefiting, as the rains are supporting late Kharif crops.
However, the IMD advises commuters to remain cautious during heavy spells of rain, especially in areas prone to waterlogging. Power disruptions, traffic delays, and minor flooding may occur in low-lying regions.
