KKN Gurugram Desk | Punjab Police have arrested Jasbir Singh, a prominent YouTuber with over 1.1 million subscribers on his channel “Jaan Mahal,” for alleged involvement in a Pakistan-backed espionage network. The arrest was made by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Mohali following intelligence inputs.

Background and Connections

Jasbir Singh, a resident of Mahlan village in Rupnagar district, has been under scrutiny for his alleged connections with Pakistani intelligence operatives. He reportedly maintained close contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was previously arrested on similar charges. Singh also had interactions with Ehsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, a Pakistani national and expelled official of the Pakistan High Commission.

Suspicious Activities and Evidence

Investigations revealed that Singh attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi on Danish’s invitation, where he met Pakistani Army officials and vloggers. He traveled to Pakistan on three occasions—in 2020, 2021, and 2024. Forensic examination of his electronic devices uncovered multiple Pakistan-based contacts.

Following Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, Singh allegedly attempted to erase all traces of his communications with Pakistani intelligence operatives to avoid detection. Despite these efforts, authorities recovered significant data linking him to the espionage network.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation

An FIR has been registered at SSOC, Mohali, and Singh has been remanded to three days of police custody. Punjab Police are actively investigating to dismantle the broader espionage-terror network and identify all collaborators involved.

Implications and National Security Concerns

The arrests of Singh and Malhotra highlight the growing concerns over the exploitation of digital platforms by foreign intelligence agencies. Authorities emphasize the need for heightened vigilance and cyber monitoring to prevent the misuse of online platforms for activities that threaten national security.
