A tragic case has emerged from Delhi involving a young college student. Sneha Debnath, a 19-year-old student of Delhi University, has reportedly died by suicide. According to the police, she left a note before taking the drastic step. However, her family members believe otherwise and have raised suspicions of possible foul play.

Sneha’s handwritten note was found in her room. In that note, she mentioned jumping from Signature Bridge. Police are currently verifying the authenticity of the suicide note through forensic analysis. A detailed investigation is underway.

Police Recover Suicide Note from Sneha’s Room

The police recovered a four-line suicide note from Sneha’s room. The note reportedly states that she was going to end her life by jumping off Signature Bridge.

The brief message also said she was feeling like a failure and burden. Sneha wrote she found her life unbearable and was taking this step of her own will.

The police have sent the note for forensic testing to confirm if Sneha wrote it herself. The handwriting analysis will help validate its authenticity.

Sneha Also Emailed Her Friend Before Disappearing

Apart from the suicide note, police discovered that Sneha sent an email to her friend. In that email, she indicated she was “leaving.”

The content of the email aligns with the handwritten note found later. Police are analyzing the email for any technical traces or metadata. This could help confirm the time and location of the email.

The email is considered crucial evidence in the investigation. It may provide clarity on whether her death was suicide or something else.

Dead Body Found in Yamuna River Below Geeta Colony Flyover

On Sunday, police recovered a body from the Yamuna River, near the Geeta Colony flyover.

The body was later confirmed to be Sneha Debnath.

The body was sent for postmortem. The autopsy report is expected to confirm the cause and exact time of death.

Sneha’s mobile phone was found switched off at 8:45 AM on the day of her disappearance. Her last mobile location was also traced near Signature Bridge.

Sneha Was Pursuing BSc Mathematics from ARSD College

Sneha Debnath was in her second year of BSc Mathematics at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College.

She lived in the Environmental Complex area of Mehrauli, South Delhi.

Originally, she hailed from Tripura.

Her father, Pritish Debnath, is a retired Subedar Major from the Indian Army.

What Happened on the Day She Disappeared?

According to police, Sneha left home on July 7 saying she would drop a friend at Sarai Rohilla station.

She booked a cab and shared the driver’s number with her mother, Pinky Debnath.

However, her mobile phone was switched off at 8:45 AM that morning.

When Sneha didn’t return, her mother called the cab driver. He confirmed that he dropped Sneha at Signature Bridge in Wazirabad.

The family panicked and filed a missing person report at Mehrauli police station on the same day.

Police began tracking her location and activities based on mobile data and surveillance footage.

Family Refuses to Believe It’s Suicide

Sneha’s sister, Bipasha, has publicly questioned the suicide theory.

She said Sneha was not someone who would take her own life.

She described Sneha as mentally strong and emotionally stable.

Bipasha said that the four-line note lacked emotion, clarity, and any real reason.

She suspects that Sneha was either threatened, manipulated, or mentally tortured.

“If someone really wants to die, why go to Signature Bridge?” she asked.

“Why not do it at home? Something feels wrong.”

Suicide Note Content: A Matter of Concern

The suicide note read:
“I’ve decided to end my life. I feel like a failure and a burden.
Living like this is unbearable. No one else is involved. This is my decision.”

Despite the note, the family is unconvinced.

They believe the language used does not match Sneha’s writing style.

Hence, the forensic examination has become critical in this case.

Family Alleges Police Negligence in the Initial Hours

Bipasha criticized the police response in the first 48 hours.

She said the FIR was not filed promptly, and no serious search began until it was too late.

The delay in tracing Sneha, she believes, may have cost her life.

She demanded accountability from law enforcement officers.

She urged officials to strengthen response mechanisms in missing person cases, especially involving women.

What Are Police Doing Now?

Delhi Police have started a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

They are working to authenticate the suicide note and the email.

They are also analyzing CCTV footage from the bridge and nearby areas.

The cab driver’s statement has been recorded.

Digital evidence from Sneha’s phone and laptop is being extracted.

The case will also be reviewed for any signs of cyberbullying, blackmail, or mental abuse.
