The Bihar DElEd Joint Entrance Examination 2025 officially begins today across selected districts of the state. This entrance test will decide admissions into the Diploma in Elementary Education program for the 2025-2027 academic session. The Bihar School Examination Board is conducting the exam in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode across designated centers.

The DElEd program prepares young aspirants for teaching jobs at the primary level. With thousands of candidates appearing, the exam has strict rules and detailed guidelines. Candidates must carefully follow instructions to avoid disqualification.

Examination Schedule Across Districts

The Bihar DElEd exam starts on August 26, 2025, and will continue until September 27, 2025. For the first phase, exams are being held across 19 centers in districts like Patna, Bhojpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Saharsa, Munger, and Purnea.

The tests will be conducted daily until September 13, except on August 31 and September 5. Two shifts are scheduled during this period. The morning shift runs from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. The afternoon shift will be held between 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM.

From September 14 to September 27, the exams will continue in Patna, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Saharsa, and Munger across 18 centers. During this period, the first shift will be conducted from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM, while the second shift will run from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM.

This extensive schedule ensures that all registered candidates get a fair opportunity to attempt the entrance test.

Reporting Time and Entry Rules

Candidates must report to their designated centers one and a half hours before the exam starts. The entry gates will close strictly 30 minutes before the examination begins. Latecomers will not be allowed inside under any circumstances.

This rule has been implemented to allow proper verification and to avoid last-minute crowding at examination gates.

Dress Code for the Exam

The Bihar Board has issued a strict dress code for candidates. Wearing shoes and socks inside the exam hall is prohibited. Aspirants are required to wear simple slippers only.

The ban on shoes and socks aims to prevent malpractice or the use of hidden devices during the test. Candidates should follow this rule to avoid unnecessary disqualification.

Biometric Verification Requirements

Every candidate must undergo biometric verification at the exam center. For smooth processing, they are instructed not to apply mehendi, nail polish, or any ink marks on their hands.

Biometric verification will confirm the identity of each candidate and ensure transparency in the examination process.

Documents Required at Exam Center

Candidates must carry a printout of their e-admit card with a color passport-size photograph pasted on it. The photo must match the one uploaded during the application process.

The original admit card will be collected at the examination center. Therefore, candidates are advised to bring a photocopy for their reference. Along with the admit card, a valid photo ID must be presented. Acceptable IDs include Aadhaar card, voter ID, passport, driving license, or any other government-issued ID. Candidates should also carry a photocopy of the ID for record verification.

Carrying unauthorized items such as books, notebooks, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, or any electronic gadgets is strictly banned inside the exam premises.

Stationery Allowed

Apart from the admit card and ID proof, candidates should carry necessary stationery. A pencil and a ballpoint pen are required to complete rough work and markings as per exam instructions.

Candidates should not carry extra materials unless specifically mentioned in the guidelines.

CBT Mode Examination

The Bihar DElEd entrance exam will be conducted in CBT mode. Candidates will attempt the test using computer systems at the exam center.

Ten minutes before the scheduled time, candidates will be provided with a username and password to log in. Once the test begins, they must carefully follow on-screen instructions.

The CBT mode is expected to ensure fair evaluation and faster result processing.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The board has specified minimum qualifying marks for different categories. For the unreserved category, the cutoff is 35 percent. For reserved category candidates, the qualifying marks are fixed at 30 percent.

Candidates must secure these minimum scores to be considered for further admission procedures.

Exam Pattern and Mark Distribution

The entrance exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions worth one mark each, making a total of 120 marks.

The subject-wise distribution is as follows:

  • General Hindi/Urdu: 25 questions

  • Mathematics: 25 questions

  • Science: 20 questions

  • Social Studies: 20 questions

  • General English: 20 questions

  • Logical and Analytical Ability: 10 questions

The balanced pattern ensures that candidates are tested across language skills, reasoning, and core academic subjects.

Admission Process After the Exam

After the exam, the Bihar Board will release a merit list. Admissions will be offered based on the merit list combined with candidates’ choice of institutions. This system is commonly referred to as “merit cum choice.”

The board will issue a separate notification explaining the counseling process. Successful candidates will be allotted institutions accordingly.

Once admitted, candidates will undergo the two-year DElEd diploma program, which qualifies them to apply for primary school teaching posts in Bihar.

Future Opportunities for DElEd Graduates

After completing the DElEd diploma, candidates can apply for primary-level teaching vacancies for classes 1 to 8. However, qualifying the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) remains mandatory for final recruitment.

The DElEd course serves as a foundation for aspiring teachers who wish to enter the education sector. It equips them with pedagogical skills and knowledge essential for teaching at the elementary level.

Importance of Strict Guidelines

The Bihar Board has emphasized strict rules for this year’s exam. The ban on shoes, restrictions on electronic gadgets, and biometric verification highlight the focus on transparency.

In recent years, exams in Bihar have faced criticism due to malpractice cases. With these new rules, authorities aim to restore faith in the examination process and ensure fair evaluation for all candidates.

Candidate Reactions to the Guidelines

Many candidates have welcomed the clarity of instructions, though some expressed concerns about the strict dress code. According to students, wearing slippers may be uncomfortable, but they understand the need for the rule.

Others appreciated the introduction of CBT mode, as it reduces the possibility of errors in evaluation and result delays.

The Bihar DElEd Entrance Exam 2025 marks the beginning of the admission process for the next batch of teacher training aspirants. With strict rules on reporting time, dress code, documents, and biometric verification, the Bihar Board is aiming to conduct a transparent and fair examination.

From August 26 to September 27, thousands of candidates will appear across different districts. With two shifts daily, the schedule is packed, but it ensures proper management of the large number of aspirants.

The successful completion of the exam will pave the way for future primary school teachers in Bihar. For now, the focus remains on strict compliance with rules, smooth conduct of the CBT mode test, and fair assessment of all candidates.
