Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has completed the registration process for undergraduate admissions for the year 2025. Now, preparations for the seat allotment process are in full swing. The cutoff for various undergraduate courses and subject combinations will be announced by the evening of August 8, 2025. Along with the cutoff, the university will also announce the four phases of seat allotment and the mid-entry registration schedule.

This year, BHU has introduced a total of 415 subject combinations for undergraduate courses, with 282 of them being specific to the Bachelor of Arts (BA) program. Admissions will also be held for affiliated colleges, women’s colleges, and the Southern campus of BHU. The seat allotment formula was shared with the BHU admission cell by the Samarth portal on Tuesday, following which the seat and fee data for all courses has been updated.

Details of Seat Allotment and Cutoff Announcement

BHU is set to release the seat allotment results and the cutoff for various undergraduate courses on August 8. The university has followed a clear and structured process to allocate seats, considering several factors such as seat availability, the specific eligibility criteria for the applied programs, and the social category of the applicants. After the results are published, candidates are advised to carefully check the eligibility along with the seat allotment details on the official admission portal.

The seat allocation process will be carried out in four phases. Along with the seat allotment, BHU will also introduce a mid-entry registration program, which allows candidates who were unable to apply during the initial phase to apply for admission at a later stage. Candidates will be able to register for various undergraduate programs through this mid-entry process.

CUET UG Scores and Admission to Various Courses

For the 2025 academic session, BHU will grant admissions to undergraduate courses based on CUET (Common University Entrance Test) UG scores. The university will consider these scores for admission to undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. Only those candidates who applied within the stipulated time frame for the centralized admission process will be considered for seat allotment.

This year, BHU has made several changes to its admission process, including the integration of CUET scores as the basis for undergraduate admissions. The transition to using CUET scores has been made to standardize the selection process and ensure that only the most qualified candidates are chosen for admission to the university’s prestigious programs.

Verification of Documents for PG Candidates

Starting Thursday, August 7, 2025, the physical verification of documents for Postgraduate (PG) candidates will begin in the respective departments of the university. This process is crucial for ensuring the authenticity of the candidates’ documents before the final selection is made. Candidates must ensure that all required documents are in order to avoid any issues during the verification process.

Factors Affecting Seat Allotment

The seat allotment process is influenced by several factors. These include the availability of seats in each course, the eligibility criteria specific to each program, and the social category of the applicants (General, SC, ST, OBC, etc.). BHU follows a detailed and thorough procedure to ensure that the allotment process is fair and transparent. The university’s admission team takes into account all the essential parameters before assigning seats to eligible candidates.

Candidates are strongly advised to regularly check the BHU UG admission portal for updates regarding their seat allotment status and cutoff details. It is crucial for applicants to stay informed about any changes to the allotment schedule and take prompt action once the results are announced.

Mid-Entry Registration and Additional Opportunities

The introduction of a mid-entry registration process is a notable feature of this year’s admission procedure. It provides candidates who missed the initial registration phase an additional chance to apply for undergraduate programs. The mid-entry registration allows the university to fill up any remaining seats while giving more candidates the opportunity to be part of BHU’s academic community.

The BHU UG Admission 2025 process is well underway, and the release of the round 1 seat allotment results is just around the corner. With several key factors, such as CUET UG scores, eligibility criteria, and social category considerations, influencing the allotment process, candidates must ensure they follow the necessary steps to secure their admission. The announcement of the cutoff and the seat allotment process will mark a significant milestone in the admission procedure, and students must stay alert for any updates on the official portal.

For those who are selected in the seat allotment results, it is important to follow all subsequent procedures for document verification and further steps in the admission process. This year’s admissions come with added opportunities such as mid-entry registration, making it an exciting time for students looking to be part of one of India’s most prestigious universities.
