KKN Gurugram Desk | As Bihar gears up for its 2025 legislative budget session, significant developments are taking place behind the scenes. The Cabinet has given its approval, and now the proposal is awaiting the Governor’s sanction before it can be officially notified. The formal announcement is expected to take place only after the Governor’s approval, a crucial step in the legislative process.

In line with the schedule, sources reveal that Governor Arif Mohammad Khan is set to address a joint session of both the Bihar Legislative Assembly and the Bihar Legislative Council on February 28, 2025. This address marks the commencement of the much-anticipated budget session, which holds considerable political weight ahead of the state elections later this year.

Budget Presentation on March 3, 2025

On March 3, 2025, the state government is expected to present its annual budget. The official schedule for the budget session was submitted by both the Bihar Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council to the state government, which subsequently approved it during a Cabinet meeting. This marks the formal beginning of the budgetary discussions, with all eyes on the financial proposals the government plans to put forth.

With the legislative session scheduled to run from February 28 to March 28, 2025, this period will include a mix of regular sessions and a break for the Holi festival. Government officials have confirmed that there will be a short holiday break to mark this cultural event, and overall, the proceedings will span 22 days, allowing for a deep dive into discussions surrounding the state’s financial health, proposals for new policies, and much more.

Economic Survey Report and Legislative Agenda

One of the highlights of the Bihar Budget Session 2025 will be the presentation of the Economic Survey Report. This comprehensive document will analyze Bihar’s economic performance over the past year, offering insights into areas such as fiscal health, revenue generation, and economic growth. The Economic Survey plays a vital role in shaping the discussions around the state’s budget, and stakeholders will be keen to see how the state government plans to manage its finances in the run-up to the elections.

In addition to the budgetary discussions, several key bills are expected to be presented and debated during the session. These legislative proposals could have far-reaching implications for various sectors within Bihar, from education and health to infrastructure and law enforcement. The state government is likely to use this session to push through key reforms before the election period.

The Political Significance of the 2025 Bihar Budget Session

This budget session holds particular political significance. With the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for later this year, the March 2025 budget will be the last one the current government presents before the elections. As such, it is expected to be a pivotal moment for political parties, as the budget could outline populist measures aimed at securing voter support in the upcoming polls.

The government’s financial allocations and proposed welfare schemes will be scrutinized by political analysts and opposition leaders alike, who will likely challenge any provisions they deem controversial or biased. With the elections just months away, every announcement made during the budget session will be carefully observed for its potential impact on the state’s electorate.

The Bihar Budget Session 2025 is set to be a significant event in the state’s political and economic calendar. As the government prepares to present its financial proposals and economic survey, political analysts, business leaders, and the general public will be paying close attention. With elections on the horizon, this budget will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping public opinion and the political landscape of Bihar in the months to come.
