In a devastating road accident near the Jamui-Lakhisarai border, three engineering students lost their lives after the CNG auto they were travelling in collided with a parked truck. The students were reportedly on their way to Lakhisarai to catch an early morning train for an important exam. The tragic incident has left the local community in shock and grief.

Fatal Collision on the Highway

According to initial reports, the accident occurred during the early morning hours near Shivsona village. The victims, all students of an engineering college located in the same village, had planned to travel to Lakhisarai for an examination. They had boarded a CNG auto to reach the railway station in time for a 6 AM train. Along with the three engineering students, two other local students from the village were also onboard the same vehicle.

There were a total of six passengers in the auto when it collided with a stationary truck parked along the roadside. The impact was so severe that three engineering students died on the spot. The remaining two students and the driver reportedly survived after falling into a nearby ditch during the collision. Their injuries, though serious, were not immediately fatal, and they managed to escape further harm.

Dispute Over Jurisdiction Delays Response

As the accident site lies on the border between Jamui and Lakhisarai districts, confusion over police jurisdiction has caused delays in the recovery of the deceased. Reports suggest that both Jamui and Lakhisarai police were present at the scene, but neither side initially took responsibility for removing the bodies from the site due to administrative boundaries.

Tetarhat Police Station in-charge, Mrityunjay Kumar, arrived at the location promptly with his team. However, the inter-district nature of the accident led to hesitation and lack of immediate action from both district police units. This delay has sparked criticism from local residents and family members of the deceased, who demand accountability and prompt investigation.

Driver Escapes with Injured Passengers

In a surprising turn of events, the auto driver fled the scene along with the two surviving passengers, leaving the bodies behind. The exact reason for his departure is still unclear. Some speculate fear of legal consequences or panic, while others believe he may have tried to seek medical help for the injured. Authorities have yet to confirm his whereabouts or the condition of the two surviving students.

The absence of the driver has complicated the investigation. Without his statement, the sequence of events leading up to the crash remains partially unclear. Law enforcement officials are trying to trace the driver and ensure the injured students receive proper treatment and provide statements once stabilized.

Community in Mourning After Tragic Loss

The news of the sudden death of three young students has left Shivsona village in deep sorrow. All three victims were reportedly brilliant students, well-regarded by teachers and peers. They were traveling with hope and ambition for their future, which was cut short in a matter of seconds.

Locals have expressed anger over the parked truck, which was allegedly left on the roadside without proper signals or warning indicators. Residents say that such negligence is common on highways, where heavy vehicles often park without safety measures, especially during the night and early morning hours.

Many in the community are demanding stricter rules for parking of heavy vehicles on highways and better surveillance to prevent such fatal accidents. The grieving families have appealed to the administration for compensation and timely justice.

Administrative Negligence and Safety Concerns

This tragic incident has brought to light serious concerns regarding highway safety and administrative response. The lack of coordination between two district police departments shows the need for better emergency protocols on border zones. Critics argue that the lives of the deceased students were further disrespected due to the delay in handling their remains.

Furthermore, the truck that caused the collision was reportedly parked in a way that violated road safety norms. There was no indication or reflective signage to alert drivers, especially during low-visibility hours. Such lapses are common across many rural highways and contribute significantly to fatal accidents.

The incident has renewed the debate on road infrastructure and accident prevention. Despite frequent cases of roadside collisions, many areas still lack proper lighting, traffic supervision, and emergency medical services.

Investigation and Search for the Driver

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are actively searching for the CNG auto driver. Police believe that locating him is key to understanding how the accident unfolded. Efforts are being made to identify the owner of the parked truck as well, and whether it was parked legally or with permission.

Legal experts suggest that the truck driver and owner may face charges under negligent parking laws and endangering public safety. Meanwhile, police are scanning CCTV footage from nearby toll plazas and petrol stations to trace the movement of the auto and the truck before the accident.

Family members of the deceased have submitted formal complaints and are cooperating with the police to ensure that justice is delivered. The local administration is under pressure to act swiftly and decisively in this matter.

A Wake-Up Call for Road Safety

The accident on the Jamui-Lakhisarai border serves as a grim reminder of how negligence, poor infrastructure, and administrative lapses continue to claim innocent lives on Indian roads. Despite repeated incidents, very little seems to have changed in how such emergencies are handled.

Students, especially those from rural or semi-urban areas, often depend on shared or unregulated transport options to reach examination centers. These journeys, filled with aspirations, should never end in tragedy. The government must now re-evaluate transport safety for students and initiate reforms that ensure their secure travel.

Conclusion: Urgent Need for Accountability and Reform

The death of three promising engineering students in this tragic road accident has left a community shattered and raised several questions about road safety, law enforcement, and administrative coordination. While the grief of the families cannot be undone, their demand for justice is entirely valid.

The need of the hour is a strict, coordinated response from the concerned authorities. There must be an unbiased investigation, timely action against the responsible parties, and preventive measures so that such an incident does not repeat.
