Bihar Weather Update : Foggy Mornings Likely, Temperatures to Rise Gradually Across the State

The weather pattern in Bihar has changed once again due to snowfall in the hilly regions. Cold north-westerly winds have intensified across parts of the state, including Bhagalpur, leading to a sharp dip in morning visibility. On Saturday morning, several areas were covered with a dense layer of fog, reducing visibility to nearly 50 meters and causing inconvenience to people stepping out early.

Meteorological conditions indicate that the sudden chill is temporary, as temperatures are expected to rise gradually over the coming days. However, foggy mornings will continue to affect normal life in several northern districts for at least the next two days.

No Immediate Change in Temperature, Rise Expected Afterward

According to weather experts from Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, there will be no significant change in day and night temperatures on Sunday. From the following two days, both maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to increase by two to three degrees Celsius.

On February three and four, the sky may remain partly cloudy. Despite cloud cover, sunshine during the day will keep the weather dry across most regions. The presence of sunlight is expected to prevent any major drop in daytime temperatures.

Fog Alert Issued for Several North Bihar Districts

The Meteorological Department has forecast foggy conditions during morning hours in many districts of North Bihar on Sunday. Areas likely to be affected include West Champaran, Samastipur, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Araria, Supaul, Madhubani, and surrounding regions.

As the day progresses, fog intensity is expected to reduce gradually. However, a yellow alert has been issued for dense fog in some parts of northwest and north-central Bihar. People are advised to remain cautious while traveling during early morning hours, especially on highways and rural roads.

Dry Weather to Continue, Light Rain Possible Later

The weather in Bihar is expected to remain dry for the next three days. After this period, there is a possibility of light rainfall at one or two locations in the south-western districts of the state on the fourth day.

During the next two days, light to moderate fog is likely during morning hours at one or two places in the northern parts of Bihar. The Meteorological Department has stated that there will be no major change in maximum temperatures across many areas during the next 24 hours.

After that, a rise of three to five degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures is expected at several places over the next 48 hours. This increase will bring some relief from the prevailing cold conditions during the daytime.

Minimum Temperatures Also Set to Increase Gradually

The Meteorological Department has also indicated that minimum temperatures across many parts of Bihar are unlikely to change significantly during the next 24 hours. However, during the following 48 hours, minimum temperatures may rise by two to four degrees Celsius at several locations.

This gradual increase in night temperatures will reduce the intensity of cold waves in the state. Despite this, mornings and evenings are expected to remain chilly for the next few days.

Muzaffarpur Weather: Cold Conditions Return

In Muzaffarpur district, cold conditions have returned due to continuous cloud movement and strong north-westerly winds over the past two days. The combined effect of dew formation and cold winds has led to a noticeable drop in minimum temperatures.

Over the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature in the district dropped by four degrees Celsius and fell below seven degrees. Cloud cover persisted throughout Saturday, affecting daytime warmth.

According to the forecast issued by the Rural Meteorological Centre located in Pusa, the sky is expected to remain mostly clear during the day on Sunday. Occasional cloud movement may reduce the intensity of sunlight at times.

Cold Winds to Increase Chill Factor

Strong north-westerly winds are likely to continue, increasing the chill factor across Muzaffarpur and nearby areas. The effect of cold is expected to intensify during morning and evening hours.

With the onset of evening, dew formation is expected to begin early, adding to the cold conditions. During the past 24 hours, the maximum temperature in Muzaffarpur rose slightly by 0.5 degrees Celsius and was recorded at 21.5 degrees Celsius.

This temperature remained one degree below the normal average. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature dropped sharply to 6.5 degrees Celsius, which is nearly 3.8 degrees below normal.

Throughout the day, north-westerly winds blew at a speed of around 12 kilometers per hour, contributing to the return of biting cold in the district.

Advisory for Residents

Residents across Bihar, especially in northern districts, are advised to remain alert during early morning hours due to reduced visibility caused by fog. Gradual warming trends are expected after the next two days, but cold mornings will persist for some time.
