Prime Minister Narendra Modi experienced an unexpected yet heartwarming moment during the 2025 edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha, an event designed to interact with students and guide them in managing exam stress. While engaging with the students, the Prime Minister was pleasantly surprised when a schoolgirl from Kerala spoke flawless Hindi to greet him.

Student’s Impressive Hindi Skills Steal the Show

The student, Akansha, caught everyone’s attention with her articulate Hindi, prompting Prime Minister Modi to inquire how she had mastered the language so well. Akansha, with a smile, answered, “I like Hindi a lot.” When further probed about her language skills, she revealed that she not only spoke Hindi but also wrote poetry in the language.

Akansha Recites Poetry That Reflects a Writer’s Inner Conflict

To everyone’s delight, Akansha recited an evocative Hindi poem that she had written. The poem read:

“Itna shor hai in bazaaron mein, itna shor hain in gailyon mein, kyun tu apni kalam lekar baitha hai fir ek ghazal likhne, fir us kitaab ke panno par tu likhna kya chahta hai, aisa kya hai tere man mein, sawalon bhare tere man mein ek syahi shayad jawab likh rahi hai, fir kyun tu aasman dekhta hai, aisa kya hai in sitaron mein, aisa kya hai tere man mein.”

This poignant verse reflects the inner turmoil and contemplation of a writer as they seek to put their thoughts on paper, perhaps questioning the world around them while searching for answers within. Akansha’s poetic skills and her depth of thought left an indelible impression on both the Prime Minister and the audience.

Language Politics and Regional Sensitivity

While the beautiful moment left a mark on the hearts of many, the use of Hindi, especially in southern states like Kerala, is a topic that has often been debated. Hindi, which is predominantly spoken in northern India, remains a sensitive issue in southern states, particularly in Tamil Nadu, where there have been frequent accusations from regional leaders about attempts by the central government to impose the language. These concerns have led to protests and political backlash in the past. However, the Modi government has consistently rejected these allegations, asserting that the promotion of Hindi is not aimed at imposing it but rather encouraging it as a unifying language across the nation.

Pariksha Pe Charcha: A Platform for Student-Teacher Interaction

The 2025 edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha marked a significant departure from the usual town hall-style format. This year, the Prime Minister engaged with 36 students in an informal setting at Delhi’s scenic Sunder Nursery. The event, which aims to help students manage the stress of exams and plan their preparations effectively, saw an interactive session where the Prime Minister responded to various queries related to academic pressure.

A Memorable and Thought-Provoking Moment

This edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha was not only about academic tips and stress management but also about celebrating student talent and their love for languages. Akansha’s graceful articulation of Hindi poetry reminded everyone that language, in all its forms, connects hearts, regardless of regional or political differences. Prime Minister Modi’s surprise and appreciation were a testament to the beauty of such spontaneous exchanges, proving that, at its core, Pariksha Pe Charcha is about fostering unity and understanding in India’s diverse cultural landscape.
