In a significant development during the NEET UG 2025 counselling process, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a reduction in the number of BDS seats under the All India Quota (AIQ). According to the notice released on August 2, a total of nine BDS seats from ESIC Dental College and Hospital, Rohini, Delhi have been withdrawn from the Round-1 seat matrix.

This update comes at a crucial stage as candidates are in the middle of the MCC NEET UG 2025 Round-1 registration and choice-filling process. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), which oversees MCC operations, received official communication from ESIC regarding the withdrawal of these seats. The MCC has now removed them from the official seat matrix applicable to the current round.

This move could affect candidates who had planned to opt for these BDS seats during Round 1 counselling under the 15% AIQ category. Students are advised to carefully review the revised matrix before submitting their final choices.

MCC NEET UG Round 1 Counselling Schedule 2025: Updated Timeline

As per the revised MCC counselling schedule, the registration and choice-filling deadline for Round 1 remains August 3. Candidates must complete all formalities, including payment, choice selection, and locking, within the stipulated time frame.

The window for registration closes at 1 PM on August 3. Fee payment can be completed until 4 PM the same day. Choice filling and locking must be done before midnight.

Seat allotment processing will be conducted between August 4 and August 5. The Round 1 result will be released on August 6. Candidates allotted seats will be required to report to their respective institutes from August 7 to August 11.

Revised MCC NEET UG 2025 BDS Seat Matrix Impacts

The ESIC Dental College, Rohini, was part of the centralized NEET UG counselling offering BDS seats through the AIQ pool. The sudden reduction of nine seats at this stage may slightly impact the availability of options for BDS aspirants who are aiming for Delhi-based institutions under the central quota.

With this change, the total BDS seat count under AIQ has seen a minor drop. However, the overall impact may be limited as more than 1,200 BDS seats remain available under the first round across multiple states and institutions.

NEET UG Counselling 2025: Academic Session and Reporting Details

As per the MCC notice, the academic session for NEET UG 2025 courses will begin on September 1, 2025. Candidates selected in Round 1 must report to their allotted college between August 7 and August 11. They are required to carry original documents for verification and admission formalities.

After Round 1, the schedule for further rounds has also been outlined. State-level counselling for Round 2 will be held from August 19 to August 29. Candidates must join by September 4, and document verification will take place between September 5 and 6.

Round 3 will be conducted from September 9 to 18, with joining dates until September 23 and verification on September 24. A stray vacancy round will take place from September 26 to 29, and the final joining deadline is October 3.

Required Documents for NEET UG 2025 Counselling

Candidates must prepare a set of required documents before reporting. These include Class 10 and 12 mark sheets and certificates, NEET scorecard, caste certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, income certificate (if applicable), identity proof, passport-sized photographs, scanned signature, transfer certificate, and disability certificate (if applicable).

The MCC has advised students to cross-verify the document list with the official notification to avoid last-minute rejection or delay in the admission process.

NEET UG 2025 Counselling Sees Active Participation Across India

The ongoing Round 1 of MCC NEET UG 2025 counselling has witnessed high participation from aspirants across the country. With MBBS and BDS seats distributed across government and deemed universities, students are vying for top institutions through both the AIQ and state quota channels.

Despite the reduction in nine BDS seats, the first round remains competitive with lakhs of aspirants submitting their preferences online. The MCC portal continues to receive a large number of logins, and help desks have been deployed to assist students with technical issues.

Candidates are advised to keep checking the MCC official portal for timely updates and seat matrix revisions. As changes like the ESIC BDS seat reduction can affect planning, it is crucial to stay alert until the final allotment is made.

Students should finalize their choices only after confirming seat availability. They are also advised to keep original documents and multiple copies ready to avoid issues during reporting.

The NEET UG counselling process remains dynamic, and those who stay updated are better positioned to secure their preferred seats.
