The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is all set to conduct the UPPSC RO ARO Prelims Exam 2025 on 27th July 2025. Candidates who have applied for the 411 vacancies of Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) should gear up their preparation as the admit card is expected to be released in the second week of July 2025. The UPPSC RO ARO Prelims exam is objective in nature and consists of two papers:

  • Paper 1: General Studies (140 Marks)

  • Paper 2: General Hindi (60 Marks)

  • Agriculture, Commerce & Trade in India

  • Population, Environment & Urbanization – Key environmental concerns and development

  • Current Affairs – National and international importance across domains

  • Logical Reasoning and General Intelligence

  • Special Knowledge of Uttar Pradesh – History, economy, culture, development projects

General Hindi Topics:

  • Antonyms & Synonyms

  • Sentence correction and usage

  • One-word substitutions

  • Words of same usage/nature

  • Adjectives & vocabulary development

Total Marks for Prelims: 200
Duration: 3 Hours (2 hours for GS, 1 hour for Hindi)

UPPSC RO ARO 2025 Mains Syllabus

Candidates who clear the Prelims will be eligible for the Mains Exam, which consists of three papers:

  • General Studies

  • General Hindi and Drafting

  • Hindi Essay Writing

General Studies:

Topics are similar to the Prelims syllabus but with a higher difficulty level. The focus will be on deeper understanding and analytical capability across:

  • Indian polity, economy, science, and tech

  • Environment and urban challenges

  • World and Indian geography

  • History and National Movement

  • UP’s socio-political and economic context

General Hindi and Drafting (Conventional):

This paper tests official communication skills, comprehension, and vocabulary. Topics include:

  • Passage writing & précis

  • Official correspondence: Memos, circulars, letters, reports

  • Administrative vocabulary: English-Hindi, Hindi-English translation, idioms

  • Computer knowledge: Basics, terminology, usage in offices

Total Marks: 160

General Hindi Vocabulary (Objective):

  • Antonyms (12 marks)

  • Sentence formation & correction (12 marks)

  • One-word substitution (12 marks)

  • Similar usage words (12 marks)

  • Noun & adjective derivation (12 marks)

Hindi Essay Writing Syllabus for UPPSC RO ARO Mains

Candidates will be required to write three essays, choosing one topic from each section:

  • Q1 Topics: Literature & Culture / Social Issues / Political Issues

  • Q2 Topics: Science & Technology / Economy / Agriculture

  • Q3 Topics: National & International Events / Natural Disasters / Development Programs
