KKN Gurugram Desk | In a heartwarming encounter at Patna Airport on May 30, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with 14-year-old cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family. The young batsman from Bihar has captured national attention with his remarkable performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, representing the Rajasthan Royals.

A Historic IPL Debut

Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines when he debuted for the Rajasthan Royals on April 19, 2025, against the Lucknow Super Giants. At just 14 years and 23 days old, he became the youngest player in IPL history. His debut was nothing short of spectacular, as he struck a six off the very first ball he faced from Shardul Thakur, eventually scoring 34 runs off 20 balls, including three sixes.

Record-Breaking Century

On April 28, 2025, Vaibhav etched his name in the record books by scoring a blistering 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans. This feat made him the youngest centurion in IPL history and the fastest Indian to reach a hundred in the tournament. His innings included 11 sixes and seven fours, contributing to a 166-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, leading the Royals to a comfortable victory.

Season Statistics

Throughout the IPL 2025 season, Vaibhav played seven matches, amassing 252 runs at an impressive average of 36.00 and a striking strike rate of 206.55. His aggressive batting style and fearless approach have drawn comparisons to cricketing greats and have made him a fan favorite.

Meeting with Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his two-day visit to Bihar, took the opportunity to meet Vaibhav and his family at Patna Airport. The Prime Minister shared photos of the meeting on social media, expressing his admiration for the young cricketer’s talent and wishing him success in his future endeavors.

Roots in Bihar

Hailing from Samastipur district in Bihar, Vaibhav’s journey to cricketing stardom is a testament to his dedication and hard work. His father, a school teacher, has been instrumental in nurturing his son’s talent, often traveling long distances to ensure Vaibhav received proper training and exposure.

Looking Ahead

Vaibhav’s coach has boldly predicted that the young prodigy will don the Indian jersey within the next two years, citing his exceptional skill set and maturity beyond his years. As the cricketing world watches with bated breath, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s journey is poised to inspire countless aspiring cricketers across the nation.
