KKN Gurugram Desk | India marked its 76th Republic Day with grandeur and pride on January 26, 2025, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Constitution coming into effect. This year’s celebrations were especially momentous, highlighting the nation’s remarkable journey of progress and democratic values.

The Republic Day parade, held at New Delhi’s Kartavya Path, began with President Droupadi Murmu taking the salute. The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who served as the Chief Guest for this ceremonial occasion, reflecting the strong diplomatic ties between India and Indonesia.

The Grand Parade on Kartavya Path

The parade commenced with the leadership of Parade Commander Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area. He was followed by Parade Second-in-Command and Chief of Staff, HQ Delhi Area, Major General Sumit Mehta, both of whom displayed impeccable coordination and military precision.

The event also paid tribute to the recipients of India’s highest gallantry awards, including the Param Vir Chakra and the Ashok Chakra. These bravehearts, who have displayed extraordinary courage and devotion to duty, were celebrated with resounding applause from the audience.

One of the standout moments of the parade was the participation of the Indonesian Military Academy’s band, which marched down Kartavya Path, symbolizing the growing cultural and defense cooperation between India and Indonesia. Their performance resonated with the audience, adding a unique international element to the celebrations.

A Historic Milestone: 75 Years of India’s Constitution

This year’s Republic Day carried a deeper significance, marking 75 years of the Indian Constitution, which came into effect on January 26, 1950. As the cornerstone of India’s democracy, the Constitution has guided the country through decades of growth, diversity, and challenges.

In her address to the nation on the eve of Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu reflected on the journey of the Indian Republic. She highlighted the remarkable progress made in the last seven decades, describing it as “a period of all-around progress for a young republic.” She also acknowledged the contributions of citizens from all walks of life in shaping India into the vibrant democracy it is today.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s Presence

This year’s celebrations were further enriched by the presence of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as the Chief Guest. His participation underlined the strong historical and cultural ties between India and Indonesia, two of Asia’s most populous democracies. Indonesia’s inclusion in the parade, particularly the marching band’s participation, emphasized the significance of the bilateral relationship in regional and global contexts.

President Subianto’s visit comes at a time when both nations are seeking to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, defense, and cultural exchange. His presence during this landmark celebration serves as a testament to the shared democratic values and mutual respect between the two nations.

A Celebration of India’s Diversity and Strength

The Republic Day parade is a reflection of India’s unity in diversity, showcasing the cultural richness and heritage of the country. This year’s parade featured colorful tableaux from different states and Union Territories, each presenting unique aspects of their traditions, achievements, and aspirations.

The parade also highlighted India’s defense prowess, with displays of advanced military equipment and technology, including indigenously developed weaponry. The aerial display by the Indian Air Force, featuring fighter jets and helicopters, was a major attraction, symbolizing the strength and readiness of India’s armed forces.

The Message of Progress and Unity

As India celebrates 76 years as a Republic, this occasion serves as a reminder of the country’s remarkable journey since 1950. From a fledgling democracy to one of the world’s largest economies, India’s progress has been driven by the resilience and determination of its people.
